Bridal Showers, Showered With Love

Filed under: Guess What!, Love affair with Life, ~CLICK~ — croakingcricket @ 3:00 pm

My first bridal shower! And my did I laugh ever so much.  I figured I would with Shai and the way that she reacts to…life.  She got a lingerie, a LOT of lingerie amongst other random stuff like recipe books and even a book on sexual pleasures from her ma-in-law to be.  Most of the people there I didn’t know because they were either family or future family.  There was really good cake though!!! My favorite part of the day though was after the bridal shower when a few people went out into the backyard and I discovered a hammock.  I got to sit and chill for a few hours and I decided that when I get my own place, a hammock is definitely mandatory.  I also went out to Mexican with Shai, Tatyana and Bri and then out to a movie, Traitor, with the Arnold sisters.  Which got me home around 1:30am.  Just another crazy day, yay :)

Veiwer Discretion is Advised

I had a little bump in my day, or more like my grandma did.  She tripped going down the stairs and some how clipped her arm where it peeled the skin on her forearm back about six inches.  I heard the bump and at first thought it was my little brother Bryce taking little falls like he usually does, but when I went to go check it out…I found my dad on the phone to 911 and my grandma lying at the bottom of the step with a towel over her arm.  And blood, there was definitely blood.  An ambulance came to check her out and ended up putting her on one of those boards they put people on when they’re unsure of neck/back injury.  I rode shotgun in the ambulance on the way to the hospital.  No flashing lights or anything, and the guys were really nice, even offered to stop off and get my grandma a beer, haha.

The hospital was a blur though, we were there for about two hours, which is pretty darn good for an ER.  She had a CT and X-Ray to make sure that there wasn’t any damage to her back, neck or ankle.  There were way too many nurses back and forth, and the thing I was the most surprised at was that we had about two girl nurses and six guy nurses.  Each one of them asked how she got the gash or medical term laceration on her arm, and I think we shocked most of them because of how exposed her arm was.  You could see the tendons, arteries, adipose and even muscle when the skin was peeled back.  THANKFULLY, nothing was broken, just had a sprained ankle, and a bunch of stitches on her arm.

Click on the MORE link for two pictures of her arm.  I didn’t take them because I’m a ghoul or unfeeling or anything.  It was just really interesting to see it up close in personal.  Most of that stuff I’ve just seen in textbooks or dead cats with no flowing blood.

A New Order

Filed under: Guess What! — croakingcricket @ 8:13 pm

I decided to rearrange my room, post camp, into something different.  I half wanted a new look and half wanted some place to put a chair.  Granted a chair I didn’t have. But after reordering my room around, I got permission from my mom to use a gift card for ikea that we’ve had since we’ve moved in the house for $200 and bought a chiar online…Not something I would usually do cause I really like to sit in a chair to see if I like it first, but I realized that with any chair, I wouldn’t really have a way to transport it… So I took a chance and ordered online, and we’ll see how that works out.  Here’s what the chair looks like, online at least.

Oh and I have blue drapes in my room now and more wall space for pictures, so I’m looking for pictures that capture life and fun and happiness so I can smile when I see them.

Seulement Par Moi

This doesn’t happen very often but I found an artist that I like, without influence from Jess or Breezie.  I generally mesh on tastes with them so I like their music, and since I don’t listen to the radio at all, I don’t really have an avenue to find new music on my own.  And actually I can’t quite remember where I heard of Stars of Track and Field…I think maybe a TV show one night at work…but I wrote down the artist to look up later and ask if others had heard of them.  I guess their name is inspired by a song by Sebastian and Belle though I have never heard any of their songs. Anyway, I ended up buying one of their cd’s and I really like it.  Reminds me a little of Coldplay and one of the people from DC Talk.

Wednesday was Disneyland day. We left my grandma’s house around 7am and got about around 1am. The amount of walking for Disneyland is always crazy, but I’ve got to give Bryce props for being able to keep up with me and my mom. And even after being there three or four times, I always manage to have fun. I did manage to start the day off interesting though. We were going to go on Splash Mountain for the first ride…and I managed to go towards two of the other four mountains in the park instead of Splash Mountain, haha. However, I did make it there. Fun all around though. Othere rides we went on were: Indiana Jones, Jungle Cruise, Space Mountain, Pirates of the Caribean, Astro Blasters, Mark Twain Showboat. Basically a lot of fun, too much walking and thankfully not too much time in lines. The parade in the middle of the day was the cutest, but I seriously felt so sorry for the ‘actors’ who had to wear these huge full out suits for like an hour in the heat…and dance too! Well here’s some pictures, pretty much my only souvinors. Though, since I’ve gotten other trinkets the other times I’ve been there, and managed to lose them….I figured I could do without.

quote and name; repeat

1. Pick 10 of your favorite movies.
2. Go to IMDb and find a quote from each movie.
3. Post them here for everyone to guess.
4. Fill in the film title once it’s guessed.
5. NO GOOGLING/using IMDb search functions.

  1. Don’t mess with the bull, young man. You’ll get the horns. Breakfast Club, Jeremy
  2. Guy gets on the subway and dies. Think anybody’ll notice?
  3. It’s gonna be a really tough project, you’re gonna have to use your head, your brain and your mind too. School of Rock, Jeremy
  4. I don’t want to talk to you no more, you empty headed animal food trough wiper. I fart in your general direction. Your mother was a hamster and your father smelt of elderberries Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Keri
  5. You don’t understand how serious this is. They killed my dog.
  6. If you want to survive out here, you’ve got to know where your towel is -Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, Hannah
  7. We are told to remember the idea, not the man, because a man can fail. He can be caught, he can be killed and forgotten, but 400 years later, an idea can still change the world. I’ve witnessed first hand the power of ideas, I’ve seen people kill in the name of them, and die defending them… but you cannot kiss an idea, cannot touch it, or hold it… ideas do not bleed, they do not feel pain, they do not love… And it is not an idea that I miss, it is a man… - V for Vendetta, Hannah
  8. You shook Sinatra’s hand. You should know better. – Oceans 13, Andrew
  9. -No harm ever came from opening a chest

-Yeah, right, and no harm ever came from reading a book. You remember how that one went? -The Mummy Returns, Andrew

10. Roses are red, violets are blue, I’m a schizophrenic… and so am I!

Beyond Therapy

Filed under: *Gasp*, Guess What!, ~CLICK~ — croakingcricket @ 12:34 am

Wow, today I was rear-ended when driving to get some dinner. And my reaction? To laugh my self silly!

dscn4384.jpg

So to start earlier in the afternoon, I decided to go see a movie with my friend Keri. At first I was going to choose a comedy like Penelope or 27 Dresses but the show times were off so I choose Vantage Point, a political thriller. It was really good; the movie showed a political assassination from like six separate point of views, rewinding the event every time it switched views. When you got to the like fifth view, you kinda want to just know what happened already. I started laughing at the end, but I just have a knack for laughing at places that aren’t really funny to everyone else.

Afterwards me and Keri were hungry so I told her to follow me to a chinese place that I knew of. However, while driving down one street Keri’s brakes gave out when she was around five car lengths away and she couldn’t stop when I halted at a light. One funny part was I was talking to my mom when she hit the back of my car and I started laughing, prolly confusing my mom when I tried to tell her what happened. Another laughing at weird times for me. Sad part was that Keri tried to turn her car onto the sidewalk to avoid the collision but ended up just hitting me with the side of her car that she was driving on, denting her door into her arm! The rest of the details are a bit fuzzy, but my car wasn’t really hurt…some parts may start falling off later, but it’s ok for now. Keri’s little VW bug is a little more dented.. like not really being able to close your door after you get out of the car…I’m guessing that that’s not too great.

The picture of her cute little bug was taken like a month ago, also when her hair was longer, lol. Her car being in one peice is probably why she’s happy in the last picture.

I still think it’s a hilarious situation, cause everyone keeps talking about MY crazy driving and I got hit! If this doesn’t scar her for life, I get to hold it over her head until I do something more idiotic! Haha.

Halla’ at your mama!

Filed under: Guess What!, Love affair with Life — croakingcricket @ 5:00 am

I watched a movie tonight, “Why Did I Get Married”. My parents had seen it in theatres and they said it was hilarious, so hilarious that my dad was laughing so loud it was embarrassing. Haha, I thought, sounds like my kind of movie! The movie was hilarious, but all so real. I can’t really relate to the married part yet, but just people dealing with issues, secrets and needs. One person in particular stood out to me. One lady had this awesome job as a litigator, she had a husband and a daughter, but she was trying so hard to hold onto success and opportunities that she ended up leaving her family behind in the dust. During the movie I ended up going over to my mom and just hugging her and saying thank you so many times. My mom has been blessed with a well paying job, more then my dad makes right now, but I am so thankful that she hasn’t let that go to her head. It can be so easy to lose balance between life and success, and my mom has never neglected me, my brothers or my dad. In fact as I was growing up it has always been in her heart to be a stay at home mom to spend more time with us. Frankly I told her “NO!”, cause I so knew that we would’ve driven each other crazy being together too often. Lol. To me, mom’s are the glue of the family, so if something’s going on with mom…the family has a great tendency to fall apart or develop issues.

On less serious issues, Valentine’s Day today. Happy heart day to all. Some people despise the holiday because they say it’s just for people who have that special someone in their life, and for everyone else it’s just a reminder that they’re alone. But I don’t think of it that way. I got a Valentine’s Day card from my dad :) I’m not sour about the lack of a romantic figure in my life, I just look at it as a day to tell people you love that they’re special. So here’s my love Red heart
